The illustrations in these volumes, although all taken in the years after Nationalisation, could well be of the IMSR, except in a few details, for the old look changed little with the formation of the London Midland Region in 1948. The scenes and subjects included in the series range from bankers on Beattock to Pacifics at Shrewsbury, 'Patriots' on Lickey and
'Jubilees' leaving St. Pancras, in the years up to 1968 and the last of steam on Britain's railways.
