Bristle A Photo Compilation 1998 - 2005
Bristle A Photo Compilation 1998 - 2005.
This book brings you 450 pictures of various forms of political art, graffiti and actions from the streets of Bristol and the South West - many of them never printed before, now in glorious full colour.
Also included are aticles new and old on the different actions, techniques and legalities, some by the artists themselves.
The images featuring in this book are follow the principles of graffiti art: art produced in the street without commercial purpose and as a way of expressing ideas, usually with a creative twist. They are mostly anonymous, though some prefer to add their name for recognistion. bristle has been reproducing examples of these expressions in Bristol and the South West since the founding of the magazine in 1999.
We've also been faithful to this art's principle of non-profit work: bristle is produced entirely by volunteers and any profits used for the printing costs. Likewise, profits from this book will be transferred entirely to the production of the magazine.
This book is copyleft - free to be reproduced for everyone, as long is it's not for profit - if you do, copyright rules will be applied to you!
Oh, by the way, the editors don't identify with all the art included in this magazine and they don't want to encourage vandalism - bombing houses to the ground is not nice!
Thanks to all Bristol and South West artists and activists for their artwork.
All photos by bristle unless otherwise stated.
This book was edited and published in September 2005.
