Burton on Trent could arguably claim to be unique, not only fo

the number of breweries dominating this Midlands town, but als for the intricate network of railways which seemed to serve every ale bank and boiler, and cross its streets at frequent intervals.

Four railway companies were involved, together with nine brewing firms' locomotives and two locomotive manufacturers. The Industrial Railway Society is pleased to publish the definitive history of the railways of Burton on Trent. Based on 30 years research, this book provides a vivid insight into the breweries, their railways and locomotives, and the people who operated them.
